Isamu Noguchi was born in Los Angeles, a child of Japanese descent. He was raised in Japan but later studied in the United States of America. In the course of his professional career, he traveled to several European countries and his learning and exposure to these different cultures make their way into his art. Besides his works as a sculptor, he was also very interested in the design of objects for daily life. In addition he was responsible for the organization of gardens and public places. The versatility of his work established him as a "multi-talent".
